Movie New- What's Coming Out in the Theaters

For the next few months there aren't many kid-friendly movies being released to the theaters.  Closer to summer you will find more choices.  Here are some details on movies that might be of interest to families.  (For more information on movies and movie reviews visit our website at www.ekidsview.com).

Abigail
Breslin fans will be happy to catch her in at least two movie releases in the next few months.  On April 4, Nim's Island will be released.  Nim's Island is a fantasy land created in one young girl's imagination.  This movie also stars Jodie Foster.    Breslin can also be seen in Kit Kittredge:  An American Girl to be released on July 2.    Here is a preview trailer:  http://www.americangirl.com/movie/

Speed Racer is due for a May 9th release.  It stars Emile Hirscht, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, and Susan Sarandon.

Chronicles of Narnia lovers get a new movie on May 16 when Prince Caspian is released to theaters.  This stars Ben Barnes and Liam Neeson.

Though further down the road, we have some interesting information about some other family movies on the horizon.  Your parents probably watched "Escape to Witch Mountain" as children (it was originally released in 1975).  Walt Disney Pictures is remaking the classic with a projected March 13, 2009 release date.  The movie will star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Carla Gugino, and AnnaSophia Robb.

Join all of your favorite Madagascar characters as they try to figure out a way back to NYC in the November 7, 2008 release of Madagascar:  Escape 2 Africa.

Another animated favorite, IceAge, will add a sequel in July 2009.  The working title for the new movie is IceAge: Dawn of the Dinosaur.

Some Harry Potter movie news:
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince: An IMAX 3D Experience will be coming to selected IMAX locations in November 2008.

Book 7 of the Harry Potter series will be divided into two movies.  Part one has an expected release day of summer 2010, and part two in late 2010/early 2011.  This is apparently the only way to adequately represent the final book and finish the Harry Potter movie series.  The three main characters will still be played by the same actors;  Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
